Freedom and Independence
I have come to experience
that I might never be
independent,
but still
I may be free.
Spiritually free:
all inclusively
interdependent,
with faith in the limitless
and hope in the ever-changing
search for harmony and peace.

I agree, Dorit, with everything you have written here. Spiritually free, yes, implicitly and explicitly. I have begun to arrive, after many years, at a place where I can feel a certain calmness both in my experience of harmony and peace—flow, I’d call it—and in my rage at all the despoilation that I witness. Observe and Accept, Choose and Act!

I share this growing edge. If rage does not become the fuel to act in rebellion, which I feel it mostly doesn’t, then it often is wasted in blame, disappointment, and helplessness.
Ultimately, keen observation reveals matters as they are.
Accepting the variety of choices (even the ones that are collectively harmful) as authentic nonetheless,I am then left to choose and act for myself, affecting change in others almost by default.

I’ve always had trouble with “affect” and “effect.”
Are you saying that when you choose and act it will effect (cause) change in others almost by default, or are you saying that when you choose and act it will affect (have an effect upon) the change (that will occur) in others almost by default?

I meant the latter, but the former is not mutually exclusive in this case, though I am not really seeking to change anyone.

OK, I get it. Thanks for clarifying for me.
